Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Kathryn Anna Marshall, I’m a poet based in Coalbrookdale which is a village on the banks of the Severn and home to the world’s first iron bridge. It’s a place that’s an interesting mix of old furnace pools and woodland walks as well as old industrial buildings and a huge variety of people and folk tales. It’s a great place to live and write.
As well as writing about my surroundings, I use my work to explore themes around mental and physical health, grief, body image, inequality and injustice. I also write the occasional poem about cats.
You can find my work in a variety of journals and anthologies including Mslexia, Popshot Quarterly, The Dawntreader, Lighthouse Journal and Footprints Anthology of new ecopoetry.
I have published two pamphlets so far. My first Yes to Tigers, published as part of my role as Writer in Residence for Secret Severn Art Trail, and my most recent work Dust, published in memory of my brother and to raise money for CALM and UKSobs. You can buy either of these direct from me.
I write in longer form too, and was lucky enough to be a columnist for the inaugural year of Spelt Magazine, where I explored the relationship between my own health and the natural world. Spelt is a unique publication that brings a different aspect to rural writing. I’m proud to have been part of it.
I am always happy to accept commissions for commercial ventures or from private clients.
My creative skills flourish in other areas too, and I love working as content creator for various small businesses. To find out more or see samples of my work just send an email to email@example.com
